Red Dress Sunday, celebrated across Baltimore churches in conjunction with St. Agnes Hospital. Particular emphasis this year is on spreading information about avoiding heart disease to African-American women, amongst whom it is the leading cause of death. Parishoners filled the pews, most of them wearing something red and sermons touched upon the importance of heart health.

Online, Trubutes.com - the US national obituary service - launched their 'Light a Candle' service through which visitors can light a virtual candle. In honour of Heart Health Month, the Red Candle choice is available in memory of those who passed away from cardiac problems.

South Jersey Healthcare are will open their second annual Women's Heart Health Conference; it runs form 8:30 to 2pm and is held at the Centerton Country Club, Pittsgrove. Keynote speakers include Nieca Goldberg, women's cardiac health expert. Tickets $40 in advance; www.sjhfdn.org
